On behalf of the Trudeau Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the Sixth Annual Peace and Conflict Studies Conference, entitled “Roots and Legacies: Confronting Conflicts in the Post-Colony”.

This year’s event will take place over the weekend of Friday 27th January to Sunday 29th January, 2012.

The conference theme comes in the wake of a year that has seen dramatic changes in the Middle East and North Africa, whose historical and contemporary realities are heavily influenced by the experience of colonialism and post-colonial legacies.

Most interestingly, many of these elements are also historical factors behind various forms of tension and conflict in many post-colonies, from Latin America to South Asia, from Canada to Rwanda.

With eight different panels covering a broad range of themes, we believe our conference reflects the diverse interests of our PACS student body, and will cater to the many interests of our guests from the University of Toronto and outside.

We hope that you will enjoy all the activities our program has to offer, including our distinguished speakers, art exhibit, specially-prepared cuisine, and a vibrant community. We look forward to seeing you at our conference.

Yours sincerely,

Christophe Shammas, Sara Lee, and Amjad Iraqi
